The game is also extremely brief with just three worlds (each shorter than the last), but it's $30 so I suppose it's priced appropriately. The most memorable levels are easily the fast-paced autoscroller boss stages where you chase a giant skeleton guy, particularly the final one. If you're any good at platformers you won't have any trouble breezing through the main levels or the generous time trials. Unfortunately the quality of the mechanics and surprisingly great visuals aren't matched by the quality of the level design, which is fine but never gets very ambitious or challenging outside of a small handful of stages. It also adds its own original mechanic by letting you snap to floating rings using your tail, which always feels really good to use. Your walking speed is weirdly slow but rolling around and using it to keep momentum is just as fun as it is in DKC. Fortunately for them, the Marsupilamis are immune. Punch, Twister and Hope are three Marsupilamis living a peaceful life in Palombia. While the three companions open a cursed sarcophagus by playing with debris on a beach, they inadvertently release a mysterious ghost that puts a terrible curse on all animals. Houba houba, embark for an exciting new adventure Paris May 25th 2021 Discover with Marsupilami: Hoobadventure, a brand new adventure inviting young players and adult alike to take control of the three Marsupilamis from the Palombian forsest. And I'm not just talking the basics of "collect fruits, roll and bounce on enemies, do bonus room challenges, and get fired out of floating cannons", I mean extremely specific stuff that they didn't need to rip off, like the way every level ends with mashing a button to get bonus fruits / beat up the villain followed by Marsupilami jumping down onto a platform on the left side of the screen to watch the results the exact same way DK does.īut hey, if you're going to steal you might as well steal from the best, and this game does it really well. Punch, Twister and Hope are three Marsupilamis who live a peaceful life in Palombia. This game is the most blatant Donkey Kong Country clone I've ever seen, specifically cloning the Retro games. I was going to get this on Switch but after seeing it's out early on Xbox I decided to grab it there.
